Blue Ridge Bike Ride – Labor Day Weekend

Scouts Jake and Evan, along with Mr. Lew and Mr. Sipes spent the 3 day Labor Day weekend bicycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, NC to the Oconoluftee Ranger Station on highway 441 inside the Smoky Mountain National Park.

The weather was fantastic. Campsites were comfortable (fire pits, flushing toilets, hot water showers, RV hookups, etc)- one even had wifi. The food was good. Traffic was lighter than expected for being a holiday weekend, and everyone we spoke with on the road was friendly and helpful.  All in all, a fantastic trip.  Only thing that could’ve made it better is if more scouts had joined! Still, such a small group made the car logistics very easy. Definitely one to repeat in the future. Lots of learning took place.
